Programs at IMC

Launchpad Program

This exclusive 3-day program is for students graduating in 2028/29 looking to get a head start and accelerate their career. If you’re interested in building your understanding of what Traders, Engineers and Researchers do while also gaining hands-on technical skills, this is the experience for you.

To set you up for success, you’ll be assigned a buddy who will support you before and during your time in the program. At the end of Launchpad, you will leave with an exclusive insight into life as a Trader or Engineer at IMC.

More importantly, top performers will be fast-tracked to receive an offer for our 2027/28 Summer Internship Program in Trading, Technology or Quant Research.

Internship

Discover the fast-paced world of trading and technology through our Summer Internship Program. The 10-week program takes place from November 2026 through to February 2027 across Trading, Technology and Quant Research.

You will learn everything you need to know about financial markets, so no background knowledge is required. Through classroom training, projects, desk-shadowing and traditional simulations, you’ll learn about market making, high-frequency trading and IMC’s business model. At the end of the Internship, you will have the opportunity to secure a full-time role with us when you graduate.

IMC Interns receive a competitive salary package with many additional benefits and perks, including flights, accommodation and meals.

Outstanding candidates who have attended the internship may receive a direct offer to join us as a graduate, with opportunities across Trading, Technology (Software, Hardware, Site Reliability Engineering) and Quantitative Research. Recruitment Process

IMC offers internship and graduate roles across Trading, Technology and Quantitative Research, and we look for students who love solving problems, thinking creatively, and working with data. You don’t need a finance background to apply, students from Maths, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Data Science, and similar degrees often thrive here.

Our recruitment process is all about getting to know you —your strengths, what you enjoy, and where you might fit best at IMC. Along theway, you’ll meet recruiters and IMC team members who’ll give you a feel forwhat we do and help us understand where you could make an impact. It’s alsocommon for us to consider you for different roles as we get to know you better.

Here’s how the recruitment process works:

1. Apply online

Submit your CV, academic transcript, and cover letter on our careers website.

2. Eligibility check

If you meet our basic requirements (like working rights and academic benchmarks), we’ll invite you to complete our online assessments.

3. Behavioural interview

If you progress, one of our campus recruiters will chat with you over the phone or on Zoom to learn more about your experiences and interests.

4. Technical interviews

Next, you’ll take part in technical interviews with an IMC trader, engineer, or quant researcher, depending on the stream you applied for.

5. Final assessment day

If you move forward, you’ll visit our Sydney office for a final round of interviews and activities.

6. Offer

If it’s a match, we’ll send you an offer to join IMC.
